Does anyone know what the assorted standard IAB sizes are for banner ads? I seem to get the glass face here when I ask (no clue), and online seem to find a bunch of different sizes from site to site.
Thanks!

problem is, is that I also see a ton of different IAB sizes from site to site.
For instance:

what's the size for the site you're designing for? can't you go with that

haha. I would love to. Unfortunately, we are using a media placement agency. To even get file size requirements is like pulling teeth. They just place ads, and when asked what their IAB sets should be, I get the glass face.

how many in the set do you have to do?
that's a tough one, probably best to design for the smaller version of each type you find, then at least it's easy to scale upstrange for an agency of that type to not have those requirements in hand

yeah, tell me about it. And for the flash banners, all I get is the dimensions..... WTF is that all about? They can place ads, but, when it comes to talking the talk about the rest of it, they dont give a shit. Really getting hard to work like this.

The media placement agency and the nature of the media buy should determine this. Whatever has been paid for will determine the sizes. Ask for a spec sheet based on the buy.

^ yeah someone should have specs on what was purchased, usually I got this from this person in house that was dealing with them cause they'll have this sheet and it will say the pixelage.

yeah, they send me a speadsheet. In it, there will be a column that says "size". In it will be all the sizes. BUT, it will say 160x600, 120x600 etc..... and then IAB sizes. I thought those were IAB sizes. I never see the physical specs that they get. Which REALLY helps when doing flash ads. When I ask for them, they send along an email say that the file specs are 728x90.
I really got burned a few weeks back, when they asked for a flash overlay ad done in a day, and the specs they supplied were 550x480. That is zero help.

Do the major ones, but if doing flash, design files in such a way that they can be resized slightly (maintain aspect) without failing.

Whatever the standards you really need to get them to tell you what they want. We run 468x60 and 160x600 (or 160 x whatever really) but we would always expect that we have to specify what our placement dimensions are to the advertisers/agencies.
