Can some of you please take a butcher's at these site comps and give me some advice on what you think would work best for a CMS?
Basically I want to update my site, which is simple as shit right now, but I want to add more content and add it as easily as possible - more work, blog stuff (maybe), links, etc. I'm considering setting up a CMS but, of course, I've got no experience with PHP, databases, etc.
Is there some off-the-rack system I can use but still keep the design the same or am I better off just building something myself? Or should I just stick with HTML/CSS? Any links to (simple) info on this would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
J.P.S. Don't exile me for the splash graphic, I just needed to temporarily fill that space with something.

i say, if you dont have experience and dont want to build your own CMS, just use static html.
It is probably easier than using a CMS anyway, since you are the only user.

Could probably do something with wordpress.
There was a link few days ago on wordpress templates. Do a search maybe.
- But heavyt is right, you could probably just use basic html/css for what you have shown.canuck

Ok, thanks. I suppose I'm just not approaching the HTML in an efficient way. At the moment (because of the way I treat the nav's hover and down states) I cut, paste and modify the work nav into every single page of the site.
Maybe I can just simplify that whole process and have one page with the nav on loaded into a DIV? I'm not used to working with template pages in Dreamweaver. Or maybe I just carry on the way I have been, it's not that difficult really.

well, it may be more appropriate for you to use includes for the nav, or just load the content in dynamically (with js). I wouldnt want to make 50 versions of the navigation either.
php includes are real easy to do, otherwise, you can always use js for includes too.

yeah, what heavyt said, use includes to add in just one menu file you maintain, and use php or javascript to add your "active" class to the current menu item. see the php and js (using jquery) methods outlined on this page:

I would suggest Verb CMS www.verbcms.com. It's super easy to use and implement with little to no PHP / Database knowledge.
