Anyone else notice that more and more film actors seem to be popping up with their own TV shows? Christian Slater, Patrick Swayze and Tim Roth are the latest ones. It must be harder to find work in Hollywood these days.

Hollywood has a difficult time creating anything that is original anymore. Just look at all the reality based shows, remakes, enough said.

Or series are getting better?

tv is getting better (minus the reality shows)
- katekelly0
you got that right.

Movie stars don't mind being in a starring role in TV shows that are on networks like HBO, Showtime, and FX. It sometimes allows for a more challenging role. Definitely dirtier.

TV has got better and become more respected in general (regardless of the actual quality of what these guys are handed), to the extent that they no longer think its a failure to switch to TV, which was very much the common feeling in film actors until very recently

they probably get paid a lot
- VectorMasked0
they sure do.
Plus it's like a 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5+ year contract.
Who wouldn't like a steady job and some sort of guarantee you'll be paid for a while.

Speaking of Patrick Swayze... oh man... good luck to him.
Dude's a good actor and from what i know a good dude too.Still remember his role in ghost when i was a tiny kid. Even then I thought the movie was pretty cool.
- He didn't want to take any drugs during filming because he thought that would be unacceptable. So imagine the painJaline
- pain he probably had while doing the show. Maybe it adds to the acting and/or character.Jaline
- Def. It all ends up in the character. Cool to see someone making the best out of something even with struggles.VectorMasked
- everyone's praising him for doing this, but what about the millions of other people doing this and working 9-5?Point5
- No one said anything against those people.Jaline
- exactly. Who am I suppose to praise exactly? Can't just throw a random name like "john smith"VectorMasked

and Swayze in 'To Wong Fu'...that man was a genius.

TV still sucks. The reality of it is that broadcast media has expanded at such an exponential rate there is now more choices (some with greater creative background/outlets) to go spend your final years as a washed up actor/actress.

How is CSI with Fishburne? It’s coming here in Feb.
- It's "meh". "CSI" has been "meh" for a while now, with good episodes scattered throughout (like season finales)Jaline

I think it's different though...cause they were never big stars.,.unless Donna Reed had a big blockbuster action movie that I missed
