I'm in the process of doing a new portfolio site and am a bit stuck on what direction to go with the navigation. You can see the list of projects are in the black bar near the top of the page and currently, the projects are scrollable below (only two there on this screen grab). Shall I:
A) Just link each project and use something like mootools smoothscroll to jump to each project? If I do this, should I have a "Return to Top" link for each project, a "Next Project" and "Previous Project," or both?
B) Instead of stacking each project on a single page and scrolling, use a separate page for each project/
Suggestions? Thanks.

I think either could work. The best way to figure it out for sure is just to build a prototype of both and see which you like better.

I want to say A because it minimizes clicking and scrolling. Plus it would give a sense of interactivity.

Here are your two battles ... Loading times vs. User Experience.
Personally I am for User Experience. So option A for me.

I prefer A), with the "return to top" and "previous project" / "next project" option as well. As long as it's not cluttered as is relatively quick.

how many projects do you have? how big are the images? what will the loadtimes be on those? Are the images jpgs or gifs with simple shapes. If the load times with your images are short, then you should minimize clicking. If people have to load 400k all at once, then you should spread things out and not have it all in one long scroll.
