Hey guys,
Maybe someone here has done this. I'm trying to record the 24-bit 96khz spdif digitial output of a BOSS GT-8 through in analogue/digital combo 3.5mm line-in input of a late 08 Macbook Pro.
I'm using a professional grade 75ohm coax with gold-plated RCA connectors cable, along with a gold plated RCA-mono 3.5mm minijack adapter.
Problem is, I can't get anything through on the mac, just lots of noise. I'm pretty sure I'm using decent cable and the right connector.
OS X 10.5.6. Tried getting a signal through Audio MIDI setup, Audacity, Logic Pro, Garageband, Audio Hijack Pro.
Thanks

Quality cables or not, if you're just getting noise, you're doing it wrong.

don't you need a sound card/interface to record SPDIF?

Yes you do. Like I said ,the MBP has a built-in combo SPDIF socket.

oh... sorry, i did not think they had that on them.
sorry i could not help with your specific issue.
personally i would bypass the mbp audio input and get a actual sound card and run it through usb.
