anyone ever had their mac go buggy and start reacting to any keystroke as if you have the apple key depressed? ie. I'm reinstalling Firefox, so open up Safari and type M and O (fr mozilla) in the url field and the window Minimizes and opens the Open dialogue etc etc.
(I'm typing this on a tiny tablet pc, btw, my mac is utterly gubbed)

open activity monitor, show all processes and orginise the list by the %CPU list and see if theres anything running in the background soaking up your cpu

Have you tried restarting?

keyboard broken? pop the apple-key away.

Alternatively, unplug your keyboard for a moment and try using the onscreen keyboard

Has anyone spelt anything over the keyboard. Sound like that problem to me.

Check Sticky Keys in the "Accessibility" System Preference. If it's on turn it off. It's for disabled folk. Apologies for any political incorectness.

could be favicon related...

Some of the dumb-fucks here used to complain of that problem. I help with tech support here and always had to fight the laughter when telling them:
"You've got a folder resting on the Ctrl key. Move that it will be ok".
Not even joking, either.
