so i had to open an pdf in illustrator and had to delete something in the illustration. now i have tons and tons of layers, everything, evry letter etc, is on its own layer. i cannot select "merge" from the layers menu.
because of all these layers flash crashes...any help?

i think there is a pref setting when saving the pdf that creates all those layers, i think you can re-save the pdf to open without those layers.

select everything, copy,
create new layer, select that layer and paste it.

there is one layer, within this layer is a group, within this group are other groups, lots of them, each group contains a bunch of layers, didnt count...

- you can use the white arrow + tool and select each group and move them on a separate layer********
