I hear 3 beeps when plugging in my USB external hard drive. The machine does not see the drive.
Other USB devices to work and emit the familiar beep USB devices do.
anyone experienced this problem?

vista? it can't find the proper driver or something like that

It means it's unrecognised for some reason. Try a different USB port, restart your machine, if you're using a hub, try plugging it directly into your pc

My Maxtor OneTouch does this when it's underpowered. Make sure it's a USB2 port (higher voltages) or has a lead with a second smaller USB power cable for USB 1 ports.
