I've just been emailed, most likely as part of a mass email, by Linkstar offering to pay me for hosting advertising on my site.
I was wondering if this is a legit approach by a reputable company and what kind of fees such things carry?
TBH I'm not really up for having advertising on my site but I was just curious as I've never received an approach like this before.

I had the same approach. I quizzed them a lot - rather than mass-mail seems they look out for high quality blogs and sites that don't have loads of adwords or banner crap on them. They asked me to put one small ad on my site and paid up-front for a year. Not bad really as that pretty much makes my blog self-funding.
