late 2008 MBP. 5 weeks old. Keyboard not responding as it should, logic board replaced because of excessive heat up, clam shell replaced due to damage by genius, now needs second replacement because it's bent. Am I unlucky or is this normal? I was told too, that if I hadn't bough Apple Care the replacements, even though the machine is just 5 weeks old, would have cost over £1500. Nice, I feel so lucky. That said, the face to face service was very good.

umm you get apple care for the first year anyhow no?
- Atkinson0
no, apparantly not to replace logic board etc. I thought that was correct though - what you said

what the fuck does the year warrantee cover then?
makes no sense
- I ask because I have one of these models too********

Who told you that you would have had to buy the replacement parts? A five week old machine with those sort of problems and it's on your back to pay for the faulty parts?
- kalkal0
It should be covered under the warranty! Get angry on their asses

Are you by chance running 10.5.6 and have QuickPwn installed?
- QuickPwn? Is that an internet meme generator?janne76
- hah, sounds like it!********

This same shit happened to an Ibook I owned, all within th first year. I didnt buy the extended contract (at least until the week before the one year anniversary of owning it) and Apple fixed everything. That included three motherboards, a CD drive, the screen and keyboard.

Sounds like they're trying to polish your turd with these "phew you're so lucky" tales
- Atkinson0
Maybe I got it wrong then, I was told 'this is what it would have cost had you not had apple care', perhaps they were reffering to generally and not the one I bought. max_prophet yes, well did have but never got to use it. Why?
- kalkal0
Is the "logicboard" on a mac basically the motherboard? One of the MAIN components that really shouldn't break by it's self, EVER?
- Atkinson0
yes
- ********0
because QuickPwn causes all kinds of keyboard and USB errors when installed on 10.5.6.
- Although I wouldn't have thought you would have a problem if you haven't ran it.********

in fairness they replaced as a precation, incase it was the cause of the fault.

Really I didn't know that. I dont have it now though and my keyboard still gives up occasionally, then decides to restart
