Artist arrested for snapping in public
Police in England and Wales have no power to delete or confiscate any image stored on a camera without a court order, the Association of Chief Police Officers said.
The statement by Britain’s largest independent police body would normally be seen by public photographers as nothing more than a helpful reminder of their rights.
Yet on this occasion, it serves as an urgent clarification of the law, as it was issued amid outrage over how a freelance artist was arrested for taking photos in public.

The Problem Reaction Solution Paradigm
1) The government creates or exploits a problem blaming it on others
2) The people react by asking the government for help willing to give up their rights
3) The government offers the solution that was planned long before the crisis

the solution that was planned long before the crisis was to arrest photographers? really?

My other half and his mate got stopped and searched under the terrorism act for taking pictures. Ironically the police officer allowed him to carry on taking pictures whilst she searched his mate and vice versa.
Complete waste of time and money.

I was in a train station a couple of years ago at Manchester taking photos of buildings outside of the actual station. I was stopped by security and taken to the station manager where they questioned me and I was forced to delete the photos off my camera after I convinced them I wasn't plotting to blow them up. Then I recovered them after when I got home but still super annoying and kinda insulting really.

Reasons like this is why I didn't care for my friend photographing the MI6 building when we were in London. But in that case... I would blame them for maybe asking a couple questions.

He was taking photos and looked shady as fuck no doubt, interestingly I couldn't find any mention in the artile about the police confiscating the photos deleting them or destroying them could you point that part out to me please?. I just can't seem to find it. All I read was someone taking photos was detained for a bit while they checked out if he was legit or not. I wonder if the article finishes with the words.
'The police did some checks and once they assertained that the photographer was not a killer doing some reconnassence they let him go and gave him his camera back'
Nope didn't find that bit in the article either.
What I did find was that he was only released after an MP interviened, after 5 hours!!! half a day fuck me the horror of it all, but the article didn't say to what extent did the MP intervien?. Probably told them he knew of the photographer.
- nah chossy man. it's the machine. THE MACHINE.skt

The cops should have smacked him around a bit as well, every cunt knows photos of buildings are about as cool as a global hyper colour t shirt.
