My computer froze while and indesign file was open. It has been saved many times before but now is saying that it is a corrupted file. It's weird that it did that especially when it's just placed pictures and nothing else. Any suggestions?

repair permissions, copy file and open on a different, this sometimes works.

Select all and paste into a new .indd might be your only way out.

change the name of of the file, leaving the ".indd"
this sometimes works for me

i just tried everything, renaming it, moving it, trying it on a different computer and same thing each time (Error code: 5)
i'm a little disappointed in InDesign that it took so little to ruin a file. Thank you for the suggestions.
- InDesign has never created a corrupted file for me, and I probably use it way more than you.monospaced

I'm a little disappointed in SHAMAN that he took so little to ruin a file. Reinstall InDesign, and start placing new images.

I'm a little disappointed in myself for not having Time Machine set up immediately.

Looks like you weren't trained correctly in the use of InDesign (based on this thread and your work). If you embed the images you'll end up with a bloated file, which is the single cause of error 5. Do it right next time and this won't happen.

- The idiot who let his file grow larger than 2GB, that's who. There's no excuse for people who can't use the software.monospaced

hej mono, take it easy man...
I had a lot of indesign crashed due to permission problems on the server. Very cheap shot to aim at the kids portfolio.- He's not experiencing a permissions/server error/crash. Error 5 occurs when a file is bigger than 2GB. Shouldn't happen, ever.monospaced
- ever happen.monospaced
- happen if you know how to use InDesign.monospaced
- Maybe, but is it necessary to be so harsh?tank02

easy monospaced the file is not over 2gb it's about 50mb and the images aren't embedded so you might want to ask before showing your prickness
and i am very trained in InDesign, Thank you.

it's really no big deal i can recreate the file no problem i was just wondering if anybody had some knowledge that i was missing

If it is photo intensive, it MAY be that you don't have enough RAM to open the file. I won't go and tell you to toss the prefs and reinstall, because I'm assuming you already tried both.
- i have enough ram and i did do a reinstall but thank you for the suggestionSHAMAN
