A friend suggested a book to me recently - and I've picked it up for my fiance for Christmas - called Deluxe, How Luxury Lost Its Luster.
One of the sections deals entirely with the perfume industry, and how 95% or so scents are all made by one company, like Johnson & Johnson or something. Mass produced, and easily done, and upsold simply on packaging and brand name.
I can't wait for her to finish up the book because my friend said he couldn't put it down. Looking forward to reading it.
- P&G make most of the fragrances. Gucci, D&G, Lacoste, Dunhill etc etc teckezza_2

Iv'e worn Channel Allure on the occasion for years and it always seems to be commented on, tiz very nice.
- Me too. Very strong stuff though - very easy to over-do it.
Nice shit though.Nairn - ..though the bottle of 'sport' I bought a year or so back has gone completely unused. Not very nice stuff.Nairn
- Not smelt that one. I find people can over do any scent, I usually just slap a drip on after a shave or one sprayset
- I used to have a friend that was a nightmare to go out with as I could never breath in the cab due to his super excess aqua digioset
- ..digioset
- I had that with Issey Miyake - used to really like that shit, years ago, 'til I kept getting overpowered by others' BONairn
- Aqua Digio - is that the citrussy one? I had a colleague who over did it too, if so - fucking smelled him a mile off.Nairn
- Ah,no - it's Armani. Shoulda googled that before I responded.Nairn
- Yea. I actually got bought it last year for Christmas and simply couldn't use it as it reminded me so much of me mateset
- I ended up giving it to himset

The Base, Mids and High notes last for different amounts of time as well. High notes tend to wear off after 15-30 minutes.

i never do. i always try them out first.last time i was like 30 minutes in a store trying them out and the people who worked there were like: "*cough.. you sure you don't need some help?"

Seriously though, V&R is nice. Different too, and less obvious. Last thing you want is to pong the same as every other common fucker in the room.
My girlfriend loves Daisy too, so it's got her seal of approval... and that is worth a lot in my book.
- well i see that as a confirmation then. :)janne76
- You calling my girlfriend a common fucker? Do you want some?Ranger
- nothing wrong with a good common fuck. missionary style..janne76
- no sir, i certainly am not. you know what i mean. and anyway, that reference with about the V&R which is for men.Raniator

Nairn from all the research I have on fragrances, it's 70% the brand 30% the perfume
- It was a largely rhetorical statement.Nairn
- they measure this stuff. Dull I knowkezza_2
- what about cost?mistermik
- they probably sell more when they up the price, am I right kezza?kelpie
- Or, at least, make more money.
Er, this isn't intended as a sarccy response..Nairn - they are generally priced according to brands standing. Most fragraneces are owned by P&G and made in one place.kezza_2
