Hello, I'm looking for some decent styles used in Word Press for a project I'm starting in the new year, as a client needs a blog, is that even the best way to go.

I'm guessing building it myself will require a lot of time spent with the admin stuff... but can I use Word Press without having their name plastered across it? i.e. If I pay?

Cool, doesn't get much simpler than that!

Themes. Check. Download, modify to your heart's content - a text-mention at bottom, or hidden away should suffice, rather than the brand-plastering you fear.
EVERYONE else here seems to recommend WP, so its a question of whether you value the thoughts of people on here or not.

So, was it you?

I've been looking at it a bit lately for myself. In work we've just built a bespoke one for our site and to be honest, its more trouble than its worth. You've a wealth of support and add ons etc with wordpress tat it would take you months to dev yourself...

When you say styles do you mean themes?
I have only had a small look into this but there are 2 routes for Wordpress: .com or .org

Start by choosing which will work for you

Hmm... I tried to download to my server and it didn't work... perhaps I'll try on the clients server... see if I have anymore luck
I figured that it might be a pain in the arse, with spammers etc... guess it is just a case of hacking it myself.

WP is great, that theme on my site is just a stripped down standard one, 'modern paper'. Best starting with an existing theme and stripping it rather than building your own imo
- mimeartist_limited0
ah right... I thought you were using the eatock thing? didn't realise that was word press

it's wp within indexhibit - caferoyal.org / craigatkinson.co.uk

The best way to update this is to just play around with the CSS file, to do this I would recommend downloading the firefox developer toolbar and you can see the updates as you change the file in your browser window .. hope this is of some help

ta, thanks... don't like firefox but will give it a go

Fuck it, seeing as "he's" back in right now - I suspect you to be "Downhill", mime, and if so, my respect for you has utterly plummeted.
If not, then I retract the accusation and apologise.
- mimeartist_limited0
apology excepted ;)

I've been working with WP the last couple of days and am pleased with the flexibility.
The goal was to take a design, integrate WP and have the result not look like a WP site. So far it's coming along just fine and I expect to use this package more often.

I am putting together a site that showcases different development of wordpress builds. I am trying to highlight themes that are esy to manipulate and plug in usage.
I have just started the site so it's in progress:

much easier to start with no theme than to hack away at someone else's:
