Avoid the typical tourist traps unless your into large people looking up at the sky to gaze at all the tall buildings wearing their hideous middle america fashions.
If that isn't your thing, I'd suggest taking an extra five minutes on your subway trip and explore what lies just across the river in Brooklyn. You'd be pleasantly surprised.
