When I made the booking for the truck with in-tow I felt confident I could drive it. Now I am a nervous wreck because everyone else is scared I'll get into a jam along the way. They've reduced me to a frightened child.
Have you driven something like this? Any advice, tips? I'm leaving LA and going to Oakland via I5. << relatively short drive

probably should stop posting on QBN on your cell if you're having trouble handling the truck

when you say truck, do you mean a van? or do you mean a truck?

Go to an empty parking lot and practice for a bit before hitting the big bad highway...

No worries. Just take it slow in the right lane. Get a good co-pilot - not a nervous Nancy. Those things drive like giant Cadillacs.

I hate driving those fucking things but just try to relax.
Also, when you park ... remember to put the emergency brake on. I had to sprint after a U-Haul the one time before it ran into a building.

so no one has driven this situation and has actual advice? i'm sure i can handle it in an empty parking lot – with traffic and wind tunnels i dunno.

When turning you've gotta remember to overshoot your turn by a fair margin because of all the ballast behind you. Take it slow. Get a co-pilot and watch yer blind-spots because they're huge and people love to hide in them!
Avoid rush-hour at all costs.

Give yourself enough room with traffic in front of you. you will never know if someone cuts in front of you, and or there is an emergency. Stopping takes a lot longer! ;)

drive around your block a few times just to get a feel for her. did that to get some confidence. it really is a lot easier than it seems
