Wen you order to-go food and you pick it up, do you tip the cashier for binging the food to the front counter?
- MikeJ0
of course NOT!
- brains0
You tip because the staff who made it usually gets a percentage, not for someone to bring it to the counter.
- MikeJ0
NO!!!!!! NO TIP! NO TIPPPPP

well... i once upon a time was a "to-go food technician" at a large chain restaurant.
and although the tips are few and far between they sure are appreciated. the to-go person normally has to bag the food up, add plastic utensil's and make sure that the order is correct. not a whole lot of work... but a tip for even a small amount of work is still a tip.

I gots cash to splash Shaluralain, here's a dime

No. Never.
Tipping like people do now was never common. The tipping trend is getting out of control and now people want tips for everything. Fuck that. Like I've never been asked to tip a hairstylist but now I have encountered places that encourage tipping and have their tiny box in the counter or something. Ridiculous.

Yes, because tips are split. I tip, without fail, 20%; more if the service was exemplary, less if sub-par.
You should just buy your food at the grocery store if you're not gonna tip right. In fact, speaking as someone who's worked in a lot of kitchens, you should eat out rarely, if at all. Seriously.

No.

Americans tip way too much to too many different people. If you're going to tip bartenders, you may as well tip everyone else, including coffee shop employees.
- We do. I do every day.
dog_opus - At least you're consistent. I do tip whenever possible, but it's ridiculous now.Jaline
- I think we're generous because we make good money, and we're still, largely, a Christian nation.dog_opus
- I don't think it's so different over here in terms of money, but you do have more people.Jaline
- We do. I do every day.
- blaw0
I get a tip every time I click "Broadcast live".

At the same time, I think it's because you guys have to live off tips. I rarely hear that over here. I could be wrong, but you do get a wage, right?
- I could be wrong about people outside of the U.S.A. telling me how they had to live off tips, I mean. Maybe it's not everyone.Jaline
- I know I am missing something about the wage part. Feel free to let me know what's up.Jaline
- Service people in restaurants get a very tiny wage, that only just covers their taxes and Social Security.boobs
- So, basically, all of their take-home pay is their tips.boobs
- Hmmm....OKJaline
- Yea, my scissa was a waitress for awhile and the horror stories were just that.flavorful
