or for just an osx solution, 3rd reply here:

i was hoping toast would break it up for me, but it just says it won't fit. i guess i can separate the links out into separrate discs and count on them reassembling? sounds sketchy.

holy fck how'd you get an 8GB indesign file.. ?
try linking rather than embedding your art files next time.

8Gb WTF? What is it, all the billboards in the tri-state are at full size? Whoa!
- vanilla_cam0
40 page catalog. i'm not a complete idiot. the links alone are 7GBs.
- then i don't get it... why not split your links folder onto multiple dvds?horton
- horton0
btw... why not split it into 2 documents; pgs 1-100 and 101-200 or whatever.
and @ 8GBs you better have 100+ pages dammit! :D

i'm just going to break the links up over multiple DVDs i guess. just concerned about them putting it back together on their end.
thanks guys.

Do a “Package” and just let Toast handle the disc break-up. The images will be linked to the packaged version. And you, sir/madam, are GOLDEN!

As above, just split the links. Put your fonts, instructions, pdf, and indd as well as whatever else will fit on one disc then the rest of the links on another disc. When your service provider dumps the lot on their machine they'll put all the links back into the 'links' directory and everything will be hunky-dory.

i tried to drag the package folder into toast hoping that it would do that, but it just stated the data was too large. i'll just break it up manually. and is it really that crazy to have an 8GB catalog at 40 pages? we're talking skateboarding here, so i have sequences, stills, and products out the wazoo...
- Check in, I think, Toast prefs. You can let it just keep asking for more discs until the whole lot is done.MrOneHundred
- thanks, i'll have to try this when i'm not under the gun to get these burned. i probably need a new version of toast as well.vanilla_cam

> and is it really that crazy to have an 8GB catalog at 40 pages?
is your .indd file actually 8Gb, or are you talking the file + links folder?
- vanilla_cam0
nah man.... the file is under 200 Mb, the links are 7.8 Gb.
- haha k sorry. but you did say "i have an 8 gig indesign file"horton
- just break-up the links into multiple folders, the printer will know they all belong in onehorton
- indesign package i should have said. thanks for your help.vanilla_cam
