The grid on that a4 file you downloaded is set up for a vertical page with vertical columns and a baseline grid. if you turn it sideways, you're going to have to modify the number of columns to accomodate a completely different format.
On the master page:
Layout > Margins and Columns
increase the amount of columns and you'll get what you want- thank you monospaced********
