i'm looking for a new CMS to use on simple sites i manage, any suggestions? Never really was a fan of Drupal or Joomla...
Basically for most of them there would need to be multiple user accounts for editing. Calendar module for some, etc. Any ideas?

I don't mean to be a cock (in this particular instance, anyway) but have you checked through the QBN archives? This is quite a commonly-approached subject.

i've really become a fan of wordpress for simple sites. it has a really clean and lean admin interface that is easy for clients to manage, especially since they just completely redesigned it for the latest version. yes, it is for blogging primarily, but if you think about it in a more abstract way, you can apply it's various features to fill many needs. it has a static page engine and a dynamic page engine. it has categories, tags, and any number of custom key/value fields, and you can limit selects based on any of these attributes.

Wordpress. Simple to use. Client-friendly. And using custom fields with some PHP skillz you can actually write some quite complicated features.

I've been using Textpattern. Though the community is much smaller than Wordpress, and its development less active, it's a powerful CMS that's relatively easy to learn.

Really simple and clean is sNews. For multiple users you want Snews MU
I happen to really like it, but it's not too deep. Pretty basic..but really lightweight and clean..otherwise I'd go with textpattern, expression engine or wordpress...depending..

if money was no object on a project would you use Expression Engine over Wordpress or other OpenSource CMS?

I've been a fan of Textpattern, but recently Wordpress has been drawing me over due to it's continual development and the mighty nice admin update in 2.7
