it's not that they want you to be a dick per se. but they want you to have conviction and somehow arguing to a girl means that you care enough about something that you will make a huge scene about it. apparently when you act like you don't care about an argument, this means to them that you don't care about them, their opinion or the relationship. you are not interested in working on it. you are walking away etc.
to a guy it makes little sense, but to a girl it's a big deal.
if you have a girl though that literally would like to be abused verbally and emotionally then you have a whole different beast on your hands and i would weigh whether or not the sex is actually worth it and run while you still can.
