Anyone else lose their sense of worth within an agency setting?
I used to have more desire to create and a clearer judgement on what worked and what didn't with design.
Now my life has turned into Microsoft Vista, where every action requires an approval and I'm designing more based on the CD's tastes rather than my own just so that I can come home at a reasonable hour.

I've been there and for the large part, am still there...
My advice, get the fuck out of a large agency... Otherwise, you will always be a cog in the machine and will only be able to find solace in the notion that you are part of the 'winning team'...

Yes
I have my feet in 2 ponds currently working 2/3 days a week in an agency and 2/3 days week freelancing on my own projects. My decision making is quick and decisive when I am freelancing butu sometimes I feel I should just do what the CD wants at the agency just so I can get home to make decisions on my own projects. I used to fight for every decision and then I got tired of it

I'll say one thing for being in a large company. If you are sick of it, and you sound like you are, but you are clever... you can very easily become a paid ghost, doing nothing of value for the company at all. I did this many times when I grew tired of companies.
I once had 60 odd days paid holiday in one year.

Sometimes I kind of disappear because my satellite office is small and most of us telecommute. I have a lot of downtime and I start other projects that amuse me until someone asks me to do some work.
