ok, a design company has asked me to do some work for them on a freelance basis. I have never worked freelance properly especially in amsterdam where i am still new. Are there any proceedures i should be aware of? im not really sure what goes on. i have said im free to work there for the rest of the week.

you can try and work by means of "Payroll". the client will then pay your taxes and all that shit. you just get a salary per gig.
also the payroll company gets a bit of the cake as well..
many companies offer payroll services nowadays:

else you will have to go to the Dutch chamber of commerce, they can give you some free advice, every major town has an office, here's the website in english:

How's Amsterdam treating you? Can you really get by and work without speaking Dutch? A friend moved there just yesterday, that got me thinking..
