Just frustrated that a client hired a person to turn some moderately crafted copy into a nonsensical third-grade book report.

Haven't google's clever algorithms put these guys out of business? How do they still manipulate the search results?

Let me say this. Yes, it's somewhat of a gimmick. Obviously, Google is going to change it's algorithm periodically to entertain more business and keep things fresh. Therefore, SEO people will constantly make money. I can only imagine the high turnover rate though... If you hire an SEO firm to try and rank you higher, organically speaking, and they don't why keep them around.
There were some bright people out there that actually were making money off of their PPC AdWords campaigns, so they were forced to change that up as well.

Google's business model.
Allow the free world to submit content to be organically indexed, in order to charge for banner placements next to that organic content for people too lazy or not bright enough to figure out their criteria for being ranked higher.
- Although if it's a mom and pop business like my dad's , I think using ad words is better than paying an SEO expertmtgentry
