I'm fucking sick of them! Just make it look the way it's supposed to and stop trying to cut corners dammit!

hey, some of us care about aesthetics!
- turk_1820
on one hand i agree and applaud your to-the-point statement...
... on the other I want to say... 'Learn to develop yourself if you want it done exactly as you want it... else... stop crying, Sissy!'
I'm going to go with this though:
Dude... if you can score something that looks about 89% what you actually gave them in the PSD... it's a good day. :)

Love, A Developer

Maybe i'm crazy, but I expect it to be pretty damn close... some exceptions always apply, but if the design is done by someone who gets how to design for web, then we good! Print designers always fuck that up!
- want it to be pretty close? then just get the right developer next time... cough coughakoni

Let's all just calm down...

I was spoilt at my old agency - all the developers were fucking awesome.

hmmmm
- imnotaplumber0
sometimes I think that most developers are blind
- JackRyan0
I had a developer ask me, "What's wordpress?" I thought I was trying to make it easy on the guy...
- using wordpress does not make you a developerimnotaplumber
- Yeah, I know that.JackRyan

like I said... you are looking for a developer in the wrong places... guys that grew up only staring at actionscript and PHP are not hard core developers... not that I am one.. but I have learned a ton from my boss and other co workers who come from hard core IT Architecture backgrounds... especially while I was at Citi
- i worked at Citi... in I.T...
... fer 'bout a year. :)turk_182 - was originally at Argent ... til we got bought by Citi, then laid off on Halloween.. good timesakoni
- No comment.flavorful
- haha, yeah, hire some IT guys to write software for you, good luck with that, LOLacescence
- huh?
akoni - IT Architecture, as in blueprint and programming.. not fixing your mouse.akoni
- setting up networks is not developing software. i know, i do bothacescence
- programmers fall under IT homie, I know I work in the area.akoni
- and when I said Blueprint, i meant data modeling, etc.akoni
- i worked at Citi... in I.T...

I just don't get the attitude sometimes. I spend hours on design comps, provide styleguides for layout, spacing and fonts, and they still can't get it right. If I've put a fucking subtle drop shadow on something it's because I wanted it to be there, and honestly I don't care if it takes you longer to do it. Figure out how, and get it done. Just don't try to lie to me and tell me it can't be done!

'Learn to develop yourself if you want it done exactly as you want it... else... stop crying, Sissy!'
This is a stupid thing to say, You are basically saying someone employed to be a developer cannot do what you want so you should take the time to learn how to do their job better than them in order to get what you want !!!!!! or the person employed to be a developer could learn how to do it?.
- it was a joke when used in the 2 instances above chossy brother mang!!akoni

Good design requires working within limitations. Although it might look good on a PSD, it could devalue the project as a whole. If both parties know and understand the limitations of the web, design and development will both significantly improve.
That said, I'm sure there are plenty of shitty, lazy developers.
- mimeartist_com0
so glad i don't have to deal with schmucks delivering me layered photoshop docs... might as well just work on a conveyer belt

The trouble is, Jevad, that "fucking subtle" to a developer is a perfectly valid shortcut. No function, no code.
Your best bet is to employ a front-end, UI developer who does give a shit and can pass the HTML/CSS to the developers. It's not really a developers job to dirty their hands with CSS/HTML - It's their job to use PHP/Ruby/ASP etc etc.... to build functions and solid applications - not chase pixels with CSS.
- Yeah sorry I am using 'developer' to encompass the front end build...jevad

I'm partially lucky here. I work with one developer who also thinks about the design end of the work, while another here fights me tooth and nail about adhering to the base code of the project. It should look exactly like the design. No wiggle room. The client pays for that.
I guess that's why the designers here code the initial work, then collaborate with the developers to tie in the backend.

developers are so hot!
