Looking to pick one up for my pops for the holidays. Haven't bought one in a number of years. Which is best - Mini DV, Hard Drive, Mini DVD, Flash?

We bought a semi-pro camera here at work that uses mini DV tapes, and I have to say they are a huge hassle (the tapes).
Sure they can hold alot, but getting the tapes onto a computer requires you to record back real-time.
If your dad would be wanting to share the videos online, or need to put them onto his computer for any reason......DON'T go with Mini DV. I think Any of the other options you listed would probably work though.

Thanks...I think we just decided on one with a Hard Drive. Seems like the easiest to manage.

@ethanfink - I got a Flip Mino for work and I've been using it to shoot videos of consultants - interviews at client site. It's perfect for that, small way easy to use, cheap enough that if someone sits on it there's no crying. The mic is not so hot, but I've been messing with the sound in when I edit so it hasn't been a problem. SHoots good inside in the flourescent light too. No complaints.

Bought my Dad one of these a while back on sale for $575CAD. I've been impressed with it.
