So, which has a more vibrant design community: Austin or Houston?
I'm currently in Detroit (so far dodging the crumbling buildings) and I'm looking to relocate to a city that isn't imploding.
Texas is one option. I've lived there before, but I'm open to other US cities.
I'd love to find a place where designers work together and the overall moral isn't so hostile. Does a place like that even exist? (ha)
Alright, talk amongst yourselves...I'll be listening in.

You can get a bumper sticker down there that says:
Dallas... At Least It's Not Houston.
Nuff said.

i don't know - but i hear Austin is much better than Houston
get out of detroit now - I would be scared to be there
- yeah. i've been SUPER lucky. i've got decent job security right now, i'm just not going anywhere. and any potential lateral moves are ALL dried up.benvrazo

out of all the places in the US, you want to move to Texas?
- no. brooklyn is ideal. but i know things in ny are really slow now. portland would be fantastic, san fransisco. i'm open. texas was just a gut reaction.benvrazo

I have heard Austin is very nice. And no place like that exists. LOL

here's another angle:
Do i job hunt by location? or do i let my skill set lead me?

hey be nice to Detroit, it takes true character to appreciate that city. I grew up around there and went to school there. the downside is your design jobs are limited to the automotive industry.
Austin.
- i'm a detroit native. i have all the love i the world for this place. but i dont HAVE to stay in a place where there isn't any work.
