Have any of you ever replaced an alarm clock you had for years with a new one and just found it to be a nightmare?
I've had the same one since I was 18, and I'm almost 31 now. Replaced it last week with a new one with an ipod dock and all sorts of waterfall, beach, ambient tones for falling asleep.
And the one night I used it it was horrible. Big full display screen (as opposed to just the numbers lit up.) and even the dimmer was too bright. like having a stadium next to me.
Couldn't set both the radio for alarm 1 and the buzz for alarm 2 like my old one, and more than anything the button arrangement just made no sense. You don't put the power button anywhere near the snooze button!
Anyhow, this is a totally random thread but I'm curious if anyone else has had to get used to a new one. Such an afterthought of an item until you change it. I need to look for a new one now and this one is so good looking, but a bit too pricey:

use your iphone and lay it face down?
I haven't used an alarm clock in a few years now, I seem to wake up on my own when I need to.

did you read what the clock did and didn't do before you bought it or did you just see woodgrain and jump?
i've had my alarm clock for at least a decade. it's gone everywhere with me. why don't we get rid of these more often?
- I don't have the one above. I bought one at bed bath and beyond.mg33

i use my iphone now as my alarm. i swear, every morning when it goes off i reach over and see the word "snooze" and in my sleepy, disoriented state, can't for the life of me figure out what the word means - such a wierd word..

My dog licks me in the face with breath that smells like ass at 6:30am every morning...like clock work.

Before i had a cell phone, whenever i was stayig somewhere where i didn't have an alarm clock, i would just repeat to myself
1) what time it currently was
2) How many hours it was until i needed to wake up
3) The time i wanted to wake upSo, for example, i would say to myself "It's 11pm now, i'm going to sleep for 7 hours. i'm going to wake up at 6am" over and over, at least 5-10 times.
i was amazed how effective it was, though i know i couldn't rely on it all the time. FFS i barely rememebr hitting snooze on my current alarm the 3 or 4 times i do before i wake up.
Also, kids are a fairly reliable alarm clock.
