I haven't used Quark since 2000, and I have a client who has magazine content locked up in Quark file. Is there any nice way to get Quark to export the content in an HTML friendly way for me? Or is it a cut and paste job?

quark does have an export as html... but it looks like shit... don't expect it to keep layout

Gosh, this takes me back - this is the kind of thing I did in my first job.
It's probably changed over the last decade or so, but I'd suggest looking into a program (/plugin) called 'hexweb', which does what you ask - though if it's a smallish document, I'd recommend just doing it by hand.

It's a cut and paste job.

Recreate it in CSS then copy then put into a plain text editor and convert awkward fancy quotes etc to HTML character codes then paste
boring

thanks for the tips... I do think this looks like a rather dull and peevish job, so we'll see if they go for the budget.
but wait, there's more: three 90 page issues! fun for the holidays... perhaps my partner's ten year old son can be hired as an intern on this?

Export as a PDF and have it as a download :)
