I noticed they're looking for a flash developer on the job board. Just an FYI to anyone entertaining a position, a guy I worked with on a freelance told me that they essentially screwed him by patenting a whole bunch of stuff he developed for them. I don't wanna go into too many specifics, but he spent a year building some really amazing stuff and now they're pimping it out for big bucks and he won't see a dime.

I guess the more ruthless among us might say he should have read the fine print better, and we'd be essentially right. But that's no reason for anyone else to walk into that situation blindly.

    Pees out!

You'll find that a lot of companies will do that - while you are working for them - anything you do workwise (at home or work) belongs to them.

Not many companies will go against this policy, it means you couldnt develop a CMS while you work with them then leave and take the CMS with you and sell it to someone else.

If you are extremely talented at what you do and the company would find it hard to find someone to match your skills then you'd be in a place to negotiate before you start the job to still hold onto the IP of the work.

A way of safeguarding your work is to put lots of Goatses in there lol
