How would you respond to this as designers/creatives:
"invent/originate something which in an extremely original and startling way explains and demonstrates Malcolm Gladwell's ideas..You can work in any form of any media or medium"
http://www.gladwell.com/tippingp… this explains the trm quite well if youre not fimiliar.

Very interesting and challenging project. How much time do you have to spend on it?
- saman0
till friday. and part of my homework is to talk to people and get inspired and see what they think instead of sitting in a studio and killing myself! lol

ohhh *thinking *thinking *thinking, I can´t think the whole day.
thats why I always return to qbn and youporn.

How about a poster showing hundreds of the same object that then change once they reach the "tipping point." Could be very visually impressive if you choose the right example.

I would respond by inquiring about a more detailed briefing. purpose of the "something", audience, etc.
- saman0
yeah ukit that is a good idea..but i think it would be great if i get out of flat media..and maybe use sound or 3d-ness ? maybe place loads of objects in the uni space and then change in the middle, sort of like wha u sad about the poster..
- saman0
gung_hoek, the purpose is for it to 'stick' and the audience is the tutors and uni students
- saman0
half way?
- ukit0
of course, it would make a very cool interactive piece in Flash, but that would probably take weeks:)
so are you a grad student? this reminds me of the kind of project I would get in design school...

if it´s not an ad, how artsy are you allowed to go?
I ask because the guy was on the colbert report the other day and it seemed like he was just a hack that mashed up some random patterns to sell a broad, abstract, meaningless pile of pseudo sociology. if so, and you´re allowed to go artsy, you could absolutely use a gold painted turd as a visual or what mr100 said.
I could be wrong though, haven´t read any of mr. gladwell´s publications, maybe he has something to say and it´s just his hairdo that turns me off. :|
- He is actually pretty brilliant, I read "Blink", tons of pragmatic insights.3point14159
- please describe your hairdo, I need to know to judge your competence.gung_hoek
- i have a short and dark sexy hair style, thanks.3point14159
- you have the hair of a wise man.gung_hoek
