Whenever I listen to "Gish," their first album (which I do often, I love it, and IMHO it's one of the best albums of the nineties and set the tone for much of the decade in terms of indie rock), I just pretend it's a different band. I'm all for growth and evolving as a performer, but all the gothy stuff etc put me off.

I like SP (well, their first three albums, and some songs off their latest), but have never liked Billy Corgan. Always thought he looked like Lurch.

Uh, I think the whole thing comes off less as the rant and hissy fit it's been made out to be, and more of just something stupid and immature.
But he does really sound stupid at the end.

The real problem is, in the 90s I don't think anyone was better than him as a musician, songwriter, etc. in that alternative world. He wrote everything, recorded everything, Darcy and James Iha did nothing on Siamese Dream. I always thought he was one of the most creative people out there, a real genius when it came to songwriting and pushing himself. Always wanted to meet him back then.
But all this stuff, it really tears down that impression I used to have.

gish and siamese dream were amazing, then his pretentious idiocy grew to full power and took over. From the point he shaved his head bald, he's produced a steady stream of bullshit. Then there's the music. Don't get me started.
