I love how people never cease in their (vehement) efforts to define, categorize, laud, or discredit art and artists, and what may make any of it or them legitimate or completely invalid. For something so intangible and misunderstood amongst the masses, people sure get pissy about it.

this basically means artists arn't really arists especially the phoney artists. by the way they forgot the 'professional artists', the ones who wear a shirt and tie and 'shmooz' at their opening of landscape paintings.

I think there's a new breed of internet dork that writes overly wordy and insulting, yet hilarious and apt, blogs on various other types of people as if they'll never be categorized like they're categorizing people. Someone please write a rant about this brand of losers please.

One of my favorite 'artists' is Henry Darger. It's rare to see someone doing something that they are honestly passionate about (ok so he was a bit nuts too...) but when celebrity and money/greed can really be factored out - i find that really inspiring.

Students are still figuring a lot of stuff out. In my opinion it's more rational to look at a body of work by an individual over time to determine if they are serious about art or not rather than what they refer to themselves as.
- That makes way to much sense to have any place in this threadrocknonstop
