If the site acts as a barrier to seeing the photos or a pain in the arse to use in general then it is a problem... a photographers site should be silent in a way.

I think you guys are missing the point about my argument for a photographer having a decent site. I wouldn't say it's necessarily important that a photographer has a high end site with all the php, js or ruby bells and whistles, but there's a big difference between a basic, organized site and a site that has no efficient navigation or style to it. Of course we're not hiring the photographer to do design work, but when you go to the store to buy bottle of Jack or Basil Hayden's are you looking for that whiskey/bourbon to layout and design some annual reports for you? Maybe I don't have a point or maybe it's the diet speaking... I can't say anything negative about the photos, but the site is just depressing.
- ... which of course the point of this site being posted was for the photo work, but that harsh site can't be ignored... :PPoint5

nice link. bookmarked.
site's not really bothering me, even though enlarging could be more efficient..

hmm. i kind of appreciate the simplicity of it.
i don't think anyone is hiring them for the design services...

its not that important for photographers to have a great site, they mostly get the jobs from art buying agencies and agents.
its easier to handle: client calls agency: show me 10 fashion photographers from your portfolio.... thats it, otherwise its arduous to handle and to check for tons of photographers through the net and this for each project....
just an example: one of the most expensive photographers don´t have a site

why is it that some photographers with work like this (and this is me assuming that they are making decent money with their work) seem to be OK with having a shit site?

Rasmus Mogensen is an interesting danish photographer with a good body of work. Some of it NSFW.
