My powerbook (G4 1.67) has been playing up with its screen lately. Originally seemed to be caused by a bad connection along the hinge from base to screen. So i took it to apple and they took it in for repairs quoting me a price of £112 to fix it. Got a phone call saying its the LCD and will cost £350.... which is pretty much all it was worth. So i said don't worry about it. The rest of the computer is fine, runs great and is in perfect condition.
Should i bother trying to get it fixed elsewhere and sell it on or just sell it for parts.... Its still totally useable, but care needs to be taken with the screen. Wtf do i do with this thing?

get a monitor and hook it up to that?

ps. i already bought a new MacBook. So ideally i want to sell it... but fix it/strip it/sell for parts/try find a screen myself....

If its out of warranty then wherever you leave it in to be fixed will charge you the cost of the new lcd, and if they order it from apple it'll be whatever they charge plus labour. So it won't be any cheaper.
If you were feeling adventurous you could buy a replacement part and try fix it yourself cheaper, but it'd be easier in the long run to just hook it up to an external monitor as _me_ said above.

I have a problem with my powerbook which is now 6 years old. The screen turns a strange colour and seems to "burn" out and then the battery got Very hot. It happend if I moved the mac around when switched on.
I know have a new MBP and use my old PB for storing photos and music and a general Back up machine....
It won't be worth anything so personally I would just keep it
