Does anyone know how to hide the green box and crop marks when you create a new illustrator file using a Web document profile? It's frustrating the shit out of me.

release crop area.. but its useful to keep active.

sorry that'd be Object> CropArea> Release
but all your image exports won't be clipped to document size if you do so.

oh weird i never use those web preset documents... just realized its a crop area set within a very large document size. so really, you wanna keep that crop area active.
i just use the basic RGB and CMYK presets.

Ahhh.... it was that... if I do it as soon as creating the document it works.

Actually if I "Select All" then do it... it works.

i think it's blanked out in your screenshot because you're active on a hidden layer.
select all probably just got you off the hidden layer.
if you draw a new rectangle and do the same it'll give you the option to create a new crop area. or crop area with no selection will make the full document size the crop area.
