So ever since the client picked my design over his he has made a veiled attempt to sabotage my progress by handing my design to another designer, making "suggestions" to my comps that are not solid comments or actionable, and had been badmouthing me behind my back.
Does anyone have any suggestion as to how I can deal with this?

Do you think it's worthwhile taking it up with him first, or do you think that would just make things worse? I've been documenting the whole process of this project fucking up.

i would definately speak to him first in a calm, logical and measured way. If you can't work it out with him, then go to the boss.
Or alternatively, let your boss know that it's going on but that you are going to speak to the CD. Might be good to give him the heads up in case the CD tries to badmouth you to the boss

If you've been documenting it (which will probably end up biting you in the ass, btw) you can at least legitimately argue about the degradation of the design. The best thing to do if taking the argumentative route would be to be very specific and practical when addressing the design problems. Make sure the arguement is mostly objective and isn't really based in "well it's mine and I like it wahhhhh".

Keep your own updated design, when they go to show their version, show yours as one of the "final" working/moc versions and see what they say.

ask why he/she is being a dick and to stop. tell your boss. do the CD version and your version and let the client pick at the end. whatever you decide do it in a way that will maintain both your dignity, behind closed doors others don't need to know what's going on. tell your boss. you might get fucked in the end so having it documented for HR will help you. good times
