I've always loved portishead, this last album not so much, but to be honest I only listened to it twice. Maybe it will grow on me after another chance, I want to love it but their other 3 albums were out of this planet

Portisheads Dummy was an album that moved me and never fails to do so when I listen to it.
When I listen to music I like it to move me in some way or change my mood or whatever.
Portishead's Third does neither unfortunately.
It had been a long time coming, maybe my expectations were too high? Fuck no, they earned that expectation and pedestal (no pun intended) and they didnt live up to it :(

i think they waited too long.. they became old and then instead of maturing with age, tried to appear new and hip and threw way too much emphasis on new digital effect tomfoolery..
yep.. fell way short.

It grew on me... but I don't love the album...
I grabbed this 12" the other day and it's a lovely song..
