You'll probably have to pay something more like $1500 for everything.

- If you are asking "what's a good camera" you probably have no experience with them, the rebel is for you.Meeklo
- True, but you can outgrow the rebel as soon as you buy it!
Mind, I've not looked at the most recent version...pylon - depends on who is shooting, most people never outgrow point and shoot cameras.Meeklo
- Fair enough.
But if you're getting into strobes and rear curtain sync, etc, this may not do that.pylon - For prod-photos I mean.pylon
- you can trigger a small set up with my camera and its an older version of this one. :)Meeklo
- you are just viewing it from the perspective of an experienced photographer :)Meeklo
- Gotcha.
I'll stop talking now. :)pylon

You can get a used Canon 20d or similar for pretty good price these days. Spend the rest of your money on a good macro lens and some lights.

If thats all you're shooting then get a 1:1 magnification macro. Something like a Canon 60mm f2.8 Macro on a 450D/xsi body.
*just becuase a lens says macro, doesnt mean it can do macro. Look for true 1:1 magnification macros.

Thanks for all responses, I'm thinking of getting a Nikon D90 or D80. My range meant $0-$1000 I guess, can't really spent 1k on a camera and more than that on a lens. And yes, very beginner.
