Which kind of information need an overseas company/individual to send an invoice to an UK based company?

VAT NUMBER? depends on the size of the company = turnover.
I would say name - amount - payment t & c..etc....the usuals

+ for overseas online banking you'll need a whole bunch of your bank info.

well, i guess they could pay via paypal also. of course there is fees for that too. but maybe not as much as via bank.

I'm doing work for a few agencies in London whilst based on the other side of the planet in NZ. I invoice them monthly and don't need to include any kind of goods and services tax, either there or here. I also get them to do a BACS transfer straight into my local acc. All very simple and legit. You might want to check it with your tax dept. You may have different rules re. tax.
