Here we go, for example, I have a circle shape and a text input with a letter A, I have to align the shape with the A, just centered (x,y) problem is text box is not good for reference aligment shape, I have to use the TEXT itself as align object, basically what I need is to trim the character —what I dont want to do is expand the text :)
Any ideas? Thanks a lot!

create a square around the A, larger and with no fill no stroke, group the 2. the square (bigger object) will act as ref for allignment.

it´s a shame that illy dont have the ability to trim text double clicking in a square of the text box, like Flash o InDesign
