Ive just moved to amsterdam after finishing my degree in design and finding it difficult to find a job in a studio here. Has anyone any suggestions? The difficulty is that studios want experience but i need experience to have some, if you follow me. Its a catch 22

you've got a broken link in your portfolio

Well that's the difficult part of starting your career. Try getting some freelance work to start off with your build your portfolio. Eventually you will get your lucky break and things will take off. BTW, I would nix the blood dripping from the logo on your webpage, it scare off some clients;)

taking an internship at the best studio around will help .. even if you only do it part time for 3-6 months

yes, it is a catch 22.
It tough, you just need to wait to get an opportunity, your time will come. take whatever comes your way, dont be picky (to a point!) and bigger and better things will follow.
You have some nice work but for some reason i don't think your site shows it off as well as it should. perhaps its just that vertical line down the left hand side - just seems to distract me a little.
keep putting your stuff out there man & best of luck.

it's possible to be hired on as an AD at ad agencies without experience

redo your site so it looks as clean as your print work

print your work, make a map, write a cv
walk straight into some offices and say, 'I want a job here' lol ;pI don't know much agencies from amsterdam atm.. but look on the internet for the good ones, look IF they are hiring (more chance to get a job?)
and try to contact all of the better ones..

Don't go into freelance, that's a fucking nightmare scanario if you just left school. As some pointed out, internship is one of the best way to get a foot in the door. Some people are lucky because they get all the media attention (thanks to the media), they can get away with being a freelance. Bear in mind that it is in the interest of mags out there to publish work that have already been published elsewhere, because in a way they will sell more copies. They jump on the hype-wagon, as i like to call it. Anyway I might not have been so helpful here but good luck to you. We've all been there. I remember graduating, then going around showing my work. When you showed some corporate type of work they would ask to see some sketchbook work, when you showed sketchbook work they would ask to see some commercial work. When you showed some corporate+funky illustration, they would ask you what you preferred.
At the end of the day, you want to show how flexible you are and from my own experience, being talented and flexible in your work is not enough. I still don't get it.

Yeah, i get different responces from each company and it is frustrating as im really eager to get straight into work and dive into a job. I dont know if companies are willing to take a chance on a graduate (or else it could be my work isnt up to scratch) but im at a stand still now and need to find a job, god knows finding an apartment in amsterdam was enough of a challenge! HA
- Just take each comment and use their advice to target your portfolio to whom you need too. It takes time, but you'll get a break one day...then 5 job offers come in after you accept the first one.AC02
