What's the difference between rights ready and royalty free ... in layman's terms.

rights ready means you pay a different amount for the image depending on how long it'll be used, what coverage it gets and what formats it'll be used (billboards, brochures, web etc). Quantity of print runs can also make a difference.
Royalty free means that you pay a set fee for whatever need.

it used to be called Rights-Managed - meaning that the royalties paid to the owner are managed y the publisher (the stock library). Rights Ready is an odd name to me.
