I thought I'd share my latest project with all the smart folks over here at QBN: CollabFinder.com. It's a place to find other smart developers and designers to work with on awesome projects. I built it because I've always had more ideas than I did smart developer friends to cajole into helping me build them and I wanted a place to find great people who wanted to work on great things. Think of it as half directory, half social network for awesome people working on the web.
It's also got a neat ranking algorithm built in so you can find the best rails developers in NYC, for example, or just browse see who the best designers or developers in the world are.
Check it out, I think you'll like it, and let me know what you think :D

Cool idea. Seems like there is already alot of overlapping skill sets. I realize that most people would be searching for someone in their area (and other criteria), but I wonder what will happen if you end up with tons of people joining. So say I may search for an ActionScript coder in my area and get 100 people that popup. Chances are I am not going to thumb through them all and I would guess the first few pages of results will get the most work while the people farther down the list may never even get even looked at.
just my thoughts.....cool site and concept.

@designbot : I hear what you're saying. One of the reasons we made people's profiles so small/short/minimal is so you can page through people super fast. That's also part of the reasons we created ranking in the site, so that you can, for example, find the best actionscript developers in New York, rather than just paging through everyone who says they know actionscript.
While I'm on the subject of ranking you might enjoy our list of the best designers ( http://collabfinder.com/designer… ) and best developers ( http://collabfinder.com/develope… ) in the world!
