So...Depeche Mode got their own thread
...much repectbut I don't see to many people talking about My Bloody Valentine....considering they just finished a short reunion tour....hopefully some new material & more shows to come.
Their shows are so loud...it's pretty hard to bootleg...so check out this beauty from their set at FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL this past year
I never got to see them (yet)...damn it's beautiful

I saw them at All Tomorrow's Parties in New York a bit ago. Awesome. The noise breakdown was fucking INSANE. I mean it was actually terrifying. I now know that sound can be a solid object.

Man I would love to see them, that clip shows that they still sound as fresh today as they did 20 years ago. By the way, it scares me a little that I can use the phrase "20 years ago" to describe all these bands I grew up listening to;)
- yeah...I know.
also hard to believe Bilinda is about 47 in that clipmarychain
- yeah...I know.

Saw them when they toured Loveless. Dinosaur jr were support and MBV were way louder. Scares me to think how long ago that was.

Apparently they're going to release an album containing some of the songs written for Loveless' follow up in the mid 90s. Kevin now realises that they were actually pretty good. There'll be another album of all new stuff after that. Of course, I'll believe all that when it happens.
I've been listening to Strawberry & Wine a lot in the past week. It's the early, super-jangly MBV.
- yes...I REALLY hope it happensmarychain
- Indeed. Oh, and by "Strawberry & Wine" I of course meant "Ecstasy & Wine". Strawberry Wine is the first track.Nathan_Adams
- yeah...I got that.marychain

That Japancakes cover of "Loveless" is pretty cool.

A slight diversion, now that MBV and JAMC are re-formed - can someone send the same memo to Ride and Slowdive?
- JerseyRaindog0
I love Ride. And saw them about a dozen times becuase my flat mate was good friends with their manager Dave. He's listed on the credits of Nowhere; Claude. I even ended up designing tee-shirts for them once through Claude. Wierd side topic but apparently Claude is now a monk. Anyway Ride are very unlikely to reform, particularly as Andy Bell has a cushy job with Oasis these days and Mark Gardner seems happy producing crap in NY. Shame really.
- Any shots of the t-shirts? Mark's solo album was pretty good, but he's done some off shit too. He still plays Ride stuff live though.Nathan_Adams
- No shots of the tees but they were pretty crap. The one that actually sold ok was the worst...JerseyRaindog
- It was a long sleeve red with RIDE on the front and some writing that escapes me now down the arms.JerseyRaindog

My Bloody Valentine is some pretty craptastic indie alt-rock bullshit. Way to lower your standards peeps. Or not have any to begin with.
Does anyone remember the days when musicians were actually required to play their instruments with precision and passion and not just mindlessly jub the same 2 or 3 chords in an atonal cacophony...
I know i'm stirring the pot but MBV is fucking garbage, plain and simple.
- *stirs pot*....*takes sip*...mmm, delicious!ukit

I saw mbv at the roundhouse in London a couple of months back and they were awesome. Just glad I took up the offer of free ear plugs. 25 minutes of controlled White noise at the end was overwhelming and intoxicating. Go see them if you get the chance.

I was at the show in Santa Monica on Wednesday. It would have been awesome, but we couldn't hear the vocals at all. The sound was... not good. We did stay though until they broke out the 20+ minute jet engine feedback wall of death.
I did this for fun. Didn't see any real posters at the show for sale.- How bad is the wall of death...really....di... you earplug?marychain
- its unbearable, even with plugs.DRIFTMONKEY
