Good luck. I lived there for a few years and my family lives there, this is the best time of year IMO. Check out AKQA and Sapient, i'm pretty sure they are there as well, grab a staffer and get on your feet and you'll be fine.

I'm in DC...well, Maryland, technically.
AKQA has an office in Georgetown. HZDG, where I used to work, is in Gaithersburg, Maryland, now. GMMB, Blattner Brunner, Interface Media, Browsermedia, and Free Range studios are others. Design Army is well know too, of course.
