I've been reading Grid Systems in Graphic Design, but wondering how to set up a similar grid in InDesign. Any ideas/help? Maybe one of you has a document with the guides set-up already?
Thanks in advance.

Yeah, I understand how to turn grids on and off, I'm thinking more particularly if you can get InDesign to make a grid going vertically and uneven--similar to how you would set up columns with column spacing.

In the Grid setup dialog box you will see that you can set the vertical and horizontal grid specifications independently of eachother. I think this means “yes” to your question.

i just drag them out from the ruler, and fit them where i want the grid to go.

umm... yeah...
create master -> Ruler -> drag guide -> repeat ->
another grid? no problem
new master -> ruler -> drag guide -> repeat ->

As you know setting up a grid is not [just] about making columns in InDesign. Out there you will find books with templates already made. However before that you should understand the principles of grid design and how you calculate spaces between the columns and spaces between vertical fields [among other things].Try this from Josef Muller Brockmann:
http://www.amazon.com/Systems-Gr…When it comes to grid it is not about 'One fits all', every project/job requires its own grid requirements.
Good luck pal and enjoy the reading!
