the sums you're doing are messed up cos you're tricking your own brain not to get it.

bill total = 25$
25$ / 3 = 8.33$
tip total
2$ tip / 3 = 0.66$8.33$ + 0.66$ = 8.99$ ~ 9$
each man pays 8.99 (tip included)9*3 = 27$ bill & tip payed

it is all just about the 2 pound tip, which needs to be divided by 3. that is all.

I know mathematically it all adds up (I did it last night with 30 coins and not one disapeared into thin air)

--> this line is wrong
the £2 tip is part of the £27 paid by each man
