If you look down at History, you'd have to say Greek nerds.

Nerd would be smarter.
A geek, in my perception, is someone with an overzealous infatuation with something or things that the vast majority of the population either aren't into or don't understand or appreciate.
A nerd is someone who (again, in my perception) is overly studious, gathering knowledge of a wide array of topics. Similar to the geek in that most of the knowledge acquired and/or regurgitated is of little interest to the general populous.
But by virtue of the more limited scope of the geek's interest, one can assume that the nerd is smarter- oh..wait... i mean "fuck you candy"
(why doesn't anyone tell me when we're supposed to diss a topic. sheesh)locustsloth - topic...sheesh)locustsloth

both suffer a very specific autism and have antagonic social behaviours... just like qbn'ers

even nerds prefer to be called geeks, so I guess that answers that.

I think locustsloth nailed it right on through, exactly what I wanted to say

Being an Anglicism around here I'm not sure the meaning is the same. Geeks are computer-games freaks and use gadgets to make lists of Bon Jovi albums, whereas nerds are impenetrable fellows and compulsive knowledge-freaks for hardly any output whatsoever.

Nerds get the girl in the end....

same shit different spelling.
if you really are asking this inane question then you may place both terms after your name as credentials.
- airey0
saying that, the actual definition of a geek is someone who bites the head off chickens - usually in a circus or side show.
the enigma from jim rose circus (and an x-files episode) officially used the term geek as the character 'the conundrum' in the episode if i remember correctly. which i usually don't.

Exactly what locustsloth said.
Nerds = seem more intelligent (book smart)
Geeks = people who are very passionate or obsessed about specific things. Includes more of the population.

there's a whole bunch of self-denial action appearing in this thread no? if you're on QBN there's a higher percentage chance of you being either. if you're writing in this thread you're probably both.
i am speaking as one of you.
helping, not hurting.

UrbanDictionary has some good definitions.
Normie = normal person
Geek: "An outwardly normal person who has taken the time to learn technical skills. Geeks have as normal a social life as anyone, and usually the only way to tell if someone is a geek is if they inform you of their skills."
Nerd: "A socially awkward person who has learned technical skills due to the spare time they enjoy from being generally neglected. Their technical knowledge then leads normies to neglect them even further, leading to more development of their technical skills, more neglection, etc. This vicious cycle drives them even more into social oblivion. "
