Couldn't find a recent helpful thread on this.
is it better to do a clean install or just update from the old OS x. on a macbook pro if that means anything.

either one gets you to the same conclusion

i just read some reviews saying that a clean install is better, but i was hoping to get some more info on it.

Yes, there was another thread post on this.
Do a clean install.

don't do an upgrade. the it guy at work did it on my machine and i've had a lot of problems with adobe apps, fcp, and c4d. at home i did an archive and install and reinstalled teh apps from cds and haven't had a single issue.

ok
clean install it is, shit brick...

remember you have *3* choices in the installer:
- install over existing System folder
- Archive and Install (create a new System folder, keep the old one)
- Erase disk and Install (hardly ever needed)

@ribit what would you do?
- ribit0
depends... For Leopard I think I did the first option, simplest.. if you have any problems later you can always come back and do an Archive and Install when you have time...

clean install is always better but takes a bit more work to move files and all. still it is nice to do, if you are just now moving to leopard, it will feel like a new mac.

What do you guys mean by 'clean install'? (Archive and Install?)
